Catalysing Change: IIT Bombay’s Annual GO IITB 2023-24 Campaign Takes Flight

IIT Bombay is delighted to launch the third edition of its annual fundraising campaign, GO IIT Bombay 2023-2024. With support from its vast alumni community, this year’s campaign signifies a collective commitment to propel the Institute forward.

The theme for this year, “Invest in Excellence. Shape Tomorrow,” encapsulates the essence of the campaign, emphasizing the power of collective giving to enhance the Institute’s capabilities, infrastructure, and impact. Every contribution, regardless of size, is a chance to invest in the relentless pursuit of excellence at IIT Bombay.

Prof. Subhasis Chaudhuri, Director, IIT Bombay, encapsulated the campaign’s spirit and highlighted the role of alumni as key stakeholders in shaping the institute’s future. The Institute hopes that the alumni community will be inspired by the words of our former Director, Prof. Sukhatme, who said, “I dream of an IIT which never forgets that it has a tryst with excellence.” The Institute’s desire is for alumni to go beyond being contributors but become crucial stakeholders in the progress of their alma mater.

In his speech, Dr. Chaudhuri said, “Your goodwill and generosity will help resolve complex issues, foster interconnectedness, and inspire a culture of compassion and shared responsibility. Any contribution, big or small, from each one of you, is an opportunity to invest in your institute’s commitment to excellence.”

This year’s campaign spotlights the Institute’s critical needs:

–  Project Evergreen
–  Scholarships
– Institute Development Fund

Project Evergreen is dedicated to fostering a conducive living environment which is critical for the students’ personal and professional growth. Construction of hostels 7 8, and a new women’s hostel (Hostel 21), all in the footprint of the erstwhile Hostel 8, is already in full swing and the goal moving forward is to add 500 new alumni to donate to Project Evergreen.

The focus on Scholarships, vital for promoting educational excellence, is critical to the growth of an institution. While the Institute was able to provide scholarships to over 400 students last year, the target for this year is to support 500+ students.

The Institute Development Fund (IDF) stands as an unrestricted fund to address high-priority initiatives, allowing flexibility in responding to urgent needs. Alumni investments in the IDF empower the Institute to drive growth, enhance efficiency, and maintain its competitive advantage.

This year, IIT Bombay has made the giving back process extremely accessible and convenient. Alumni have three options:

  • One-time Donations – Alumni can make an immediate impact by providing a one-time lump sum investment. This substantial contribution will accelerate critical initiatives and fuel IIT Bombay’s journey toward excellence.
  • Recurring Giving – Alumni can make a sustained impact over time, you can opt for our recurring monthly donations. You can break down contributions into manageable amounts, such as Rs. 2500/- per month, ensuring a continuous and dynamic support system for your alma mater.
  • Future Pledges – (‘Pay Your Fees at Today’s Rate’ Pledge Your Current Fees’ over four years. Our alumni received a world-class education at IIT Bombay for a mere fraction of the cost and they have since reaped the dividends of that privilege. ‘Pay Your Fees at Today’s Rate’ is a strategic investment of Rs. 8-10 lakhs – which is today’s equivalent of the fees paid by alumni when they were students)

IIT Bombay calls on its alumni community and urges them to participate in this transformative campaign. The Institute hopes to reach at least 50 percent of the targeted budget with the enthusiastic support of its alumni community. Each contribution is not just a donation but an investment in future leaders and innovators who will shape tomorrow. With gratitude and anticipation, the Institute aims to make this campaign a resounding success.
