Mr. Jitendra Saxena

Mr. Jitendra Saxena received his B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from IIT Bombay in 1966. Later he obtained MS from Michigan State University (1968) and earned an MBA from Boston University (1973).

A business savvy entrepreneur, Mr. Saxena has been involved in the software/hardware industry for more than 35 years. His most recent venture was Netezza Corporation which he founded in the year 2000. Netezza pioneered the development of data warehousing appliances, and today is a leading provider of data warehousing and analytics products on a worldwide basis. The company has established itself firmly in online businesses, retail, telecommunications, financial services and government markets. Netezza was a fast growing public company (NYSE—NZ) and was acquired by IBM in November 2009. Mr. Saxena served as their CEO from the founding till February 2009. He served as Chairman of the Board till the acquisition by IBM.

Prior to Netezza, Mr. Saxena was Founder and CEO of Applix Inc., which pioneered decision support applications for the open environments. Applix became a public company (NASDAQ—APLX) in 1994 and a few years later was acquired by Cognos/IBM. Before joining Applix, Mr. Saxena served the Data General Corporation as a senior executive in marketing and product development.

Mr. Saxena has a long and successful career of entrepreneurship and business leadership in growing successful new global industries. He is an internationally-recognised and much sought-after business expert.

Mr. Saxena is currently a member of TiE Boston Board and serves on the boards of several high technology companies in Massachusetts.
