Mr. Gagan Jeet Bhalla

Mr. Gagan Jeet Bhalla is the Chief Executive Officer of Apollo Sugar – an innovative care delivery business from the Apollo Hospitals, which is focused on providing assured care for Diabetics. Apollo Sugar was founded with a vision to make India diabetes free and is building the largest pan-India, specialty clinics model for Diabetes care.

Mr. Bhalla has a career spanning over 16 years in the industry of heath care and health insurance. Before joining Apollo Sugar he was Director, Strategy & Healthcare Operations at Max Bupa and was engaged with the management team that delivered a highly successful growth stories in retail India Healthcare. Prior to working in Max Bupa, he was with Aetna (a Fortune 100 company) as Global Managing Director, Strategy and Corporate Development, and led Aetna’s expansion into China and India. He has also worked as an Associate Partner in Accenture’s Healthcare Management Consulting practice, out of New York. At Accenture, he served top C-level clients in healthcare in areas of growth strategy and operations turnarounds across key parts of the healthcare value chain including Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Medical Device, Health Insurance and Care Delivery.

Time and again, Mr. Bhalla has demonstrated his capabilities in creating new ventures from the ground up, substantially improving performance of existing businesses, developing leaders and transforming corporations.

Mr. Bhalla received his B.Tech. degree from the Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Bombay. Later he obtained his M.S. from Vanderbilt University, United States and MBA from INSEAD, France. Mr. Bhalla has been recognized by Economic Times (India’s #1 business daily) in “India’s Top 40 Under 40” – a list of top CXOs active in corporate India.

He loves to spend time with his two daughters and enjoys playing golf and squash with friends.

“My memories of IIT Bombay include hanging out with my wing mates in Sorcerers; late night snacking with friends at Chinkos; representing the Institute in Football and Cricket at Inter-IIT Sports Meet; parties thrown by Dr. Alok Goyal at his home; and the road trips taken with classmates and faculty members to Rishikesh, Ranchi, Dehradun and Goa.”
