Mr. Mayur Sirdesai is the CoFounder and Managing Partner of Somerset Indus Capital Partners – a Healthcare PE fund focused on investments in India that create a sustainable impact within a responsible ESG framework. Mr. Sirdesai graduated with his B. Tech. in Chemical Engineering from IIT Bombay in 1987, Master of Science (MS) in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University in 1989, and Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin in 1991.
Mr. Sirdesai has over 30 years of experience in the healthcare, pharma, and life sciences domains and is committed to the growth and expansion of the healthcare and life sciences ecosystem in India. Mr. Sirdesai founded a Healthcare Impact PE fund called Somerset Indus Capital Partners a decade ago. The fund focuses on responsible investments with a well-established ESG framework that creates a strong and sustainable impact in the healthcare sector – especially in the lower tier markets. It provides access to affordable quality healthcare in India in areas like Pharma, Med Tech, Diagnostic Hospitals, Nutrition, Preventive Care, and Digital Health.
Beyond his professional career as a PE investor in healthcare, Mr. Sirdesai works with a global NGO, Equalize Health, in maternal and neonatal healthcare. He also consults for BIRAC, theIndian Government’s Biotech Incubator, and its affiliates, to foster healthcare innovation in India.
An enthusiastic alumnus of IIT Bombay, Mr. Sirdesai is a member of the Institute’s Innovation Council, SINE’s Healthcare Investment Committee, a mentor/advisor to BETIC, on the Board of Directors of IIT Bombay Alumni Association (IITBAA) and is a co-lead of the Healthcare SIG of IITBAA. Mr. Sirdesai has worked with the Institute and connected it to various stakeholders including corporates in healthcare to foster growth and support innovations in the healthcare ecosystem at IIT Bombay.
Mr. Sirdesai’s hobbies include travelling, fitness, and mentoring several healthcare startups in their growth trajectory.
