Dr. S. G. Kane
B.Tech. 1965, Chemical Engineering

Dr. S.G. Kane retired as Vice-President-R &D from NOCIL where he served from 1981-1997. After completing his B.Tech from IITB in 1965, Dr. Kane did his S.M. and Sc.D. in Chemical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, in 1967 and 1971 respectively.

Dr. Kane has been actively involved with various activities at IITB . He has been external examiner, lectured on careers and industry expectations, and has given meaningful projects to summer trainees, besides persuading industries to fund research projects at IIT. He has been a visiting faculty at the School of Management, the Chemical Engineering Department and an external Senate member from 1990-93. Dr. Kane has been an invited member of the IIT alumni executive committee for several years and has also helped in raising funds and increased interaction with alumni.

He has co-authored papers for various journals and also co-authored patents. Dr. Kane has been a recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1983 and won the silver medal for top rank for B.Tech, IITB in 1965.

Dr. Kane has 26 years of experience at senior and functional head levels in R&D in Amoco Chemicals Corp (USA), Gharda Chemicals, Swadeshi Polytex Ltd. and as Vice-President- R&D, NOCIL.

Dr. Kane is currently interested in Traditional Medicine and Herbal Science R & D. He has also developed a set of formulations with ‘Universal Health Promotion’ activity in Humans, Mammals, Birds, and Plants with effectiveness for growth, resistance and delaying senescence.
