Dr. Rajeev Vasant Joshi

Dr. Rajeev Joshi is a B.Tech. from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Bombay. He did his Master’s from MIT in 1981 and obtained his Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1990.

He worked in many companies prior to joining the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center. At IBM he is leading research scientists and has been recognized many times by IBM and other professional societies for his innovative work. He holds over 100 patents and was recently (2007) honoured with IBM Corporate Award, which is the highest award in IBM for research innovation, for his outstanding work in copper interconnect technology. He has to his credit several publications and invited papers in various international conferences.

He was in news for his and his group’s successful realization of 6GHz embedded SRAM on 65nm SOI technology. This has many new applications in SOC business and he will get credit for such innovation along with his group members. He has also been interacting with IITB in advanced technology and design areas and providing the institute with the latest research in IBM.
