Embracing the spirit of the annual tree plantation drive, the Institute celebrated the 32nd Van Mahotsav on campus.
At the heart of IIT Bombay’s unwavering commitment to a sustainable future and a greener India is celebrating Van Mahotsav which is an inspiring initiative that resonates far beyond its campus.
IIT Bombay’s faculty, staff, and students along with the teachers and students of Kendriya Vidyalaya and Campus School (both of which are located within the IIT Bombay campus) planted over 450 saplings across various locations on campus.
Mr. Jitendra Pardesi, Superintendent of Gardens, BMC, was the Chief Guest at the Mahotsav. IIT Bombay was well represented by Prof. S. Sudarshan, Deputy Director (AIA), who spoke about the significance of trees in people’s lives and encouraged the students to help build a greener environment by planting more trees. Prof. KVK Rao, Deputy Director (FEA), stressed the importance of planting saplings that will help save the ecosystem.
Other IIT Bombay dignitaries at the occasion included Prof. Tom Mathew, Dean (Infrastructure Planning and Support), Prof. Anurag Garg, Associate Dean (IPS-3), and Prof. Vedagiri Perumal, Associate Dean (IPS-1).
