The Donor
IIT Bombay Distinguished Alumnus, Mr. D. C. Agrawal, is the President of D.C. Agrawal Consulting LLC and a past President of IIT Bombay Heritage Foundation (IITBHF). He has over 48 years of experience in the rail and transportation industry and has an in-depth understanding of railroad operations, finance, engineering, legal and institutional issues. He has worked on rail consulting assignments for several clients in the US, Australia, and India, including SEPTA, SCRRA, DART, MBTA, FRA, NYSDOT, CHSRA, and SRA Australia.
Mr. Agrawal served as the Governor of New Jersey’s designee to the Northeast Corridor Infrastructure and Operations Advisory Commission until January 2010. He has also served on the APTA Board and Committees.
Over the years, Mr. Agrawal has also been a deeply involved IIT Bombay alumnus and someone who could be counted on to rally around his alma mater. He is also passionate about gender equality, most specifically, the importance of women in the STEM fields.
The Gen Z Initiative and the coffee table book, Her Story - IIT Bombay Gen Zero Women, is Mr. Agrawal’s brainchild. He wanted the coffee table book to highlight the achievements, experiences, and life lessons learnt by the women alumnae of IIT Bombay and bring their stories to the forefront, where they belong, and make them ‘seen’. He hopes that this initiative will encourage and inspire newer generations of brilliant and diverse minds, especially young women, to make IIT Bombay their first and only choice of college, and blaze the same trails set by the women who came before them.
The Institute is deeply thankful to Mr. Agrawal and Late Ms. Renu Agrawal for the initiative and funding support.
