IIT Bombay hosted the 27^th edition of Asia’s largest science and technology festival – Techfest 2023-2024. Spearheaded by the students at IIT Bombay, a dedicated team worked over the past few months and ensured that this year’s Techfest was an unforgettable experience for attendees.

TechFest 2023-24 explored an interplay between magic, science, and technology for a journey into The Mystical Realm. From ancient mysticism to cutting-edge innovations, the festival explored a boundless spectrum of creativity and ingenuity in a Techno-Mystical extravaganza. Techfest 2023-24 also hosted multiple competitions including Cosmoclench, Meshmerize, Techfest Olympiad, Codecode, and more.

TechConnect 2023 Brings Research to the Fore

As part of TechFest 2023, IIT Bombay hosted TechConnect 2023, showcasing the Institute’s research to the public, including students, industries, and academia on campus during the last week of December 2023.

Mr. Harish Mehta, Co-founder and the First Elected Chairman of NASSCOM, Founder of the Onward Group, and author of The Maverick Effect, was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the event alongside Prof. Subhasis Chaudhuri, Director, IIT Bombay.

During the opening, Mr. Mehta delivered a captivating lecture on ‘The Maverick Effect: The Secret Sauce Behind India’s IT Revolution.’ He passionately shared insights on how researchers and students can cultivate their own Maverick Effect through symphonic collaboration, propelling industry and national growth. The engaging lecture drew an enthusiastic audience, sparking lively interactions with Mr. Mehta, adding vibrancy to the event.

Mr. Mehta then visited several other exhibits at TechFest, interacted with participants, and offered his insights.

TechConnect also hosted Dr. S. Somanath, the Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). During his visit, he engaged with participants at the exhibits and offered valuable insights. The attendees at TechConnect were also excited to interact with Dr. Somanath and gain knowledge from his experiences. The event showcased a range of technical projects highlighting hardware technologies in rockets, rovers, satellites, and other areas relevant to ISRO’s interests.

Other key events at TechFest included:

Unveiling of the Defense Symposium with top military leaders and a Lecture Series featuring Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy. The symposium featured India’s defense tech with the 𝐋-𝟕𝟎 𝐆𝐮𝐧, the DRDO’s groundbreaking CSROV – DAKSH MINI, the NSG’s advanced weapon and K9 skill display.

Mr. Taro Kono, Minister of Digital Transformation, Japan met IIT Bombay Director Prof. Subhasis Chaudhuri, and delivered a talk as part of TechConnect.
