The Rural Immersion program for students of Science and Engineering (RISE) was set up by IIT Bombay’s alumni batch of 1992. Selected undergraduate students are placed with a reputed NGO working in the field of rural development. RISE exposes and sensitizes undergraduate students to the problems and hardships faced by rural India and encourages them to find possible solutions.

RISE is conducted twice a year and each batch consists of up to 25 students who are selected and placed with their partner NGOs. Expenses for travel and stay are covered by RISE.
