Alumination 2023, a spectacular two-day affair, illuminated the hallowed halls of IIT Bombay with the presence of distinguished alumni. It also underscored the invaluable bridge it creates between the rich legacy of IIT Bombay with the promising future of its current students. This dynamic convergence of past achievements and future aspirations during Alumination acted as an indispensable conduit, offering students the chance to glean wisdom from those who have walked similar paths in the past and allowing alumni to witness the promising potential within the next generation.

Alumination 2023, held on the 21st and 22nd of October, was attended by over 250+ alumni and 5000+ attendees over a series of more than 20 diverse events. Some of the key events included:

Hostalgia 2023

Among these, “Hostalgia 2023,” a hostel-specific event, marked a unique initiative by SARC. Hostel Alumni Secretaries organized activities such as hostel tours, sports, and networking sessions, creating an engaging platform for alumni to relive their hostel memories. The event not only fostered connections but also facilitated alumni sharing success stories, offering valuable advice, and even mentoring current students. The impact was palpable as alumni expressed joy at rekindling memories, forming new connections, and appreciating the initiative.

Alumni Odyssey 2023

“Alumni Odyssey 2023” catered specifically to PG students, featuring guidance sessions on placement, resume building, and corporate challenges. Renowned PG alumni, Mr. Ravindra Gupta and Mr. Suhas Kajbaje, shared their journeys and insights. Mr. Gupta is a serial entrepreneur and a pioneer in AI solutions for real-world problems. He is the Founder and CEO of InnovSense, which is aimed at ‘building an AI-powered communication layer for the next billion of India’. Mr. Kajbaje is the Vice-President (Enterprise Architect) at Mahindra Finance and Subsidiaries. The session not only addressed the doubts and confusions of PG students but also left them motivated and inspired. The online interaction and Q&A with alumni showcased the success of this event.

Start It Up

“Start It Up” brought together alumni entrepreneurs Mr. Akshay Saxena and Mr. Anupam Sidhant to share insights and experiences. The event attracted over 50 attendees, providing an informative platform for students to engage with the entrepreneurial journey of the speakers. Mementos were presented to express gratitude for their valuable contributions.

Beyond The Horizon

“Beyond The Horizon” featured renowned comedian Mr. Vipul Goyal, offering a unique blend of entertainment and insights. The event, with a footfall of 1500+, showcased student performances including two stand-up comedy acts, a classical performance by the ICC (Institute Cultural Council), and a mono-act play, followed by a beatboxing performance and an engaging interview with Mr. Goyal, making it a highlight of Alumination 2023.

Un-Engineering

“Un-Engineering” featured alumni Mr. Saurabh Chanderiya, Ms. Anoosha Shetty, and Mr. Sameer Saxena. Mr. Saurabh Chanderiya shared personal anecdotes, recounting his journey that began at Goldman Sachs to his current passion for dance and finding a life partner with shared interests. To the delight of the audience, he and Ms. Anoosha Shetty showcased their dance skills live on stage, responding to the audience’s enthusiastic requests. Though Mr. Saxena couldn’t attend the event in person, he thoughtfully addressed all of the queries posed to him. With an audience of 150+, the event included engaging sessions, dance performances, and personal anecdotes, creating a memorable experience for both alumni and students.

Trailblazers

“Trailblazers- Second Edition” connected successful alumni, Mr. Sneh Vaswani and Ms. Ahana Gautam, with students aspiring to venture into entrepreneurship, tech, and startups. With an audience of 200+, the event left a lasting impact, providing valuable guidance and sparking interest in future events of this kind.

Spotlight and Coming Full Circle

“Spotlight” and “Coming Full Circle” highlighted the extraordinary journeys of alumni Mr. Ashwin Srivastava, Mr. Ashima Mittal, Mr. Deepak Satwalekar, and Mr. Rajeev Pandia. These events, attended by 150+ students, aimed to inspire and motivate by showcasing the diverse career paths of accomplished alumni.
