Prof. Aditya G. Parameswaran
B.Tech., 2007, Computer Science & Engineering

Prof. Aditya G. Parameswaran is an Associate Professor in the School of Information (I School) and Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS) at UC Berkeley and Co-founder and President of his startup named ‘Ponder’. He obtained his B.Tech. in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from IIT Bombay in 2007 and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University in 2013. He did his postdoctoral research at Massachussetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2014.

Prof. Parameswaran develops human-centered tools for scalable data science — making it easy for end-users to make sense of their large and complex datasets — by synthesizing techniques from data systems and human-computer interaction. His visualization and data exploration tools have been downloaded and used by millions of users in a variety of domains. He recently commercialized his work in the form of a startup, Ponder, along with two former Berkeley Ph.D. students.

Prof. Parameswaran has received the SIGMOD 2020 Best Paper Award (2020), Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship (2020), VLDB Early Career Research Contributions Award (2019), the Army Research Office Young Investigator Program Award (2018), the NSF CAREER Award (2017), the TCDE Rising Star Award (2017), and multiple “best” doctoral dissertation awards (from SIGMOD, SIGKDD, and Stanford in 2014)
