Mr. Sharad Kumar Tak

Mr. Sharad Kumar Tak completed his BTech. Degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Bombay in 1966 and went on to do a Masters Degree in Computer Science from the State University of New York at Buffalo (SUNY).

Mr. Tak has had an illustrious and distinguished career as an entrepreneur and technologist having founded and steered several companies to leadership positions in their respective industries, and provided extraordinary value and returns to investors, shareholders, employees, and the communities. He formed ST Group to consolidate his diverse business interests in the United States and abroad in infrastructures development (including power plant, refinery, and petroleum exploration activities), information technology, communications, business services, real estate, and two luxury hotel-resort properties in Bermuda.

After spending several years as a Senior Computer Engineer with Computer Sciences Corporation, Sharad Tak embarked upon a career as an entrepreneur by establishing a professional services company, Systems and Applied Sciences Corporation (SASC), later renamed ST Systems Corporation (STX). STX provided programming and systems integration services to U.S. government agencies including NASA and FAA. STX reached approximately $70 million in annual sales by 1991 when Mr. Tak sold the company to Hughes Aircraft. Mr. Tak is actively involved in a variety of entrepreneurial ventures in the U.S., India, and other locations around the world through the ST Group of companies. These include ST Power Systems which built, owned and operated a 250 mega watt thermal power plant at Neyveli, which has posted a profit since 2002. Another recent Indian venture is ST Refineries, Inc. that has entered into MoU with Govt. of Rajasthan for development of a 3 million ton per annum refinery.

Mr. Sharad Tak became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1976 and resides in Maryland with his wife Mahinder.
