Mr. Rangarajan (Raghu) Raghuram is the Chief Executive Officer at Vmware Inc. He earned his M.Tech. Degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Bombay in 1986 and his MBA from Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, in 1996.
Mr. Raghuram joined VMware in 2003 and began his career running product management for ESX and vSphere. He currently serves as the company’s Chief Executive Officer. He is an industry thought leader and has successfully steered the company’s strategy and technology evolution across VMware’s rich history. At VMware, Mr. Raghuram has held multiple leadership roles, most recently as its Chief Operating Officer, Products and Cloud Services, where he was responsible for all of VMware’s product and service offerings and centralized services, support, and operational functions.
Earlier, he led the company’s software-defined data centre business as the executive vice president and general manager, where he was responsible for the division’s strategy, business, and product planning and engineering execution. Prior to that, he led the company’s cloud infrastructure and management business as the general manager, led worldwide product marketing, product management, and business planning for the company, and served as part of the leadership team that took the company through its initial IPO. Prior to Vmware, Mr. Raghuram held product management and marketing roles at AOL, Bang Networks during 2001-2003, and Netscape during 1996-2000.
Under Mr. Raghuram’s leadership, Vmware has grown from a startup to a Fortune 200 company with approximately $13B in revenue, 37,000 employees, and over half a million customers in over 100 countries worldwide. Mr. Raghuram oversaw the creation and growth of VMware’s technology portfolio with over 5000 patents awarded over the last two decades.
