Arun Mahadeo Joshi
B.Tech. (Honors), 1969 Chemical Engineering

Mr. Arun Mahadeo Joshi is a Principal Consultant at Apex Consultants, Mumbai, a firm that specializes in water management, treatment and recycle consultancy. Besides a B.Tech. (Honors) degree in Chemical Engineering from IIT Bombay, Mr. Joshi holds a postgraduate diploma in Industrial Management from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies.

During 1996-99, Mr. Joshi worked with Ion Exchange India Ltd and grew to the position of Senior Vice President before he left the firm in 1999 to start his own consultancy. He has specialized knowledge of all aspects of water treatment and management. Mr. Joshi has travelled widely – domestically and internationally – during his employment and during his consultation work. He is associated with many prestigious projects in the field of water and is involved extensively in technical training.

Recalling his time spent at IIT Bombay, Mr. Joshi said, “One of my favorite memories is interacting with Prof. N. R. Kamath who walked with me and two other classmates all the way from the Department of Chemical Engineering to the library to help us locate library references for our Home Paper”.

Mr. Joshi’s contribution to IIT Bombay as an alumnus include his active participation in the organizing committees for the Batch Reunions held in 2009, 2015 and during the Golden Jubilee reunion in 2019. He was instrumental in publishing a yearbook that traced the journeys of almost 100 alumni from these batches. He was also involved in Arun Mahadeo Joshi B.Tech. (Honors), 1969 Chemical Engineering 7 fund raising and implementing a laundromat in H6 (built entirely from contributions made by said batches), study rooms for H2 and H8 through funds raised from batchmates who live in the USA, even as he is fully involved in overseeing their completion. He helped formalize the KarnikGanesh Scholarship Fund and connected its management with the FAP program so that the Fund will be available in perpetuity.

Mr. Joshi’s hobbies include travelling and photography. He has organized more than ten trips for his IIT Bombay friends and their wives to various domestic and international locations.
